Religion, Politics Do Mix in Canada

Of course; this was, once, a Christian country, after all…

Many of us like to pretend that we on Canada’s progressive” West Coast live  in a non-religious society – unlike our Bible-thumping neighbours to the  south.

But why then does religion keep rearing its head here? Premier Christy Clark  recently told the Christian TV show 100 Huntley Street that she looks to the  Bible for the courage to make tough decisions. It seemed a harmless remark,  given the conservative nature of the program and the conservative voters she’s  clearly anxious to woo.

However, it raised the hackles of some of her political opponents, who  promptly branded her a hypocrite. The message? Don’t play the religion card,  Christy, if you want our vote.

Her opponents aren’t going to vote for her, anyway, so why should she care?

They’re just mad because they’re Christophobic; that’s all.
