No and Wrong

This may not be news, but I just came across the following sacrilegious tramp stamp pic yesterday - and apparently it’s real:

The world is going to hell in a handbasket, all right…

  1. Will, and I’m sorry to say this, but I really think that if Christianity is to survive(hell even be taken seriously), now is the time to to start rejecting western nations as Christian nations. If not the west in general then at the very least America.

    • Oh, Daniel, I totally agree. The West is clearly post-Christian, as people up here in Canada, heathens and believers alike, all tend to agree; we’ve entered that stage…

No, I think Philip Jenkins was right; that Christianity’s future lies in the ‘global south’, i.e. the non-Western, Third World, where the Church is growing at a rapid rate…

I guess we have to content ourselves that God will always preserve His Church, even if that Church isn’t largely coterminous with the West any more. As a son of Western civilization, though, I will mourn its loss.

      • One thing I curious about. With the rise of Christianity in Africa, will Crusade-esque events of sorts take place to stamp out the old religion as we saw in Europe? More specifically, what happened in Scandinavia(St. Olaf) and Old Prussia(Prussian Crusade).

      • I don’t think so; so far, at least, that doesn’t seem to be their style.

I think they probably feel, like many Africans in general no doubt do, that their continent has seen enough bloodshed (and sadly, that’s still going on).

But, I suppose in places like what used to be the single nation of Sudan, where the south has become an independent country but still continues to be harassed by the north, and where, in the north, the remaining Christians are subject to great persecution, one could see such a thing…
