It’s notable when anyone famous risks arrest by supporting a revolutionary leader, as Walesa was when EJ praised him during a concert there in 1984. Solzhenitsyn would be wondering if he should have been writing pop songs instead of books

Certainly, Elton John is to be commended for having championed Lech Walesa, though I doubt, as a highly prominent celebrity, he was ever in any real danger of being held for very long, if actually arrested.
