Publius on delusional Quebeckers.
The history of the English speaking peoples can be understood as a never ending struggle for liberty.
The history of the French speaking peoples can be understood as repeated attempts to replace one type of collectivist-statist arrangement with another. The newer version is cosmetically quite different from the older version, yet the central statist conceit remains unchanged. From the time of the Conquest until Lesage the church was never properly separated from the state. From Lesage onward the state was never properly separated from the economy. Worshiping God was replaced by worshiping the state.
Plus ça change….
